He Had Been a Resident of Lewiston Since 1877.

Wm. Strickland Wynkoop, who has been a resident of Lewiston since 1877, died Thursday night at his home on Idaho street, the cause of death being kidney complaint. For the past year he has been gradually failing and his death was not unexpected.

The deceased was born at Pittsburg, Penn., in the year 1837. As a young man he served through the civil war as a union soldier and later came to the west, finally locating in Lewiston. For a period he was engaged in the logging business on the Clearwater and later conducted a large shingle yard here. Of recent years he has not been engaged in active business, owing to ill health. The deceased leaves a wife and six children. Two daughters and a son reside in Portland and they have been notified of his death. Another daughter, Mrs. James Robinson, resides at Stites.

The deceased was a man of splendid character and enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him. The funeral will be held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church, and all friends are invited.
