Lewiston Morning Tribune Sat., Feb. 16, 1952 Harriet Winegardner, Leland Pioneer, Dead Mrs. Harriet Katherine Winegardner, 82, resident of the Leland area 40 years ago, died last night at the Riverview Rest home, Clarkston. She had been in failing health for several years and was a patient at the home for three months. Born Harriet Katherine Wildes May 6, 1869 at Clinton, Mo., she attended school and grew to adulthood in Missouri. She married Richard Winegardner there March 1, 1888. Mr. and Mrs. Winegardner and family moved west into the Leland district about 1912, and she had lived there and at Lewiston since that time. She was a member of Lewiston Congregational Presbyterian (Federated) church and of the Lewiston chapter of American War Mothers. Mr. Winegardner died in 1946. During the last two years Mrs. Winegardner has been a patient at Clarkston nursing homes. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Richard C. Winegardner of Lewiston Orchards; James H. Winegardner of Oakland; Mrs. Vern Beckman of Chelan, and Mrs. Earl Stierwald of McCleary, Wash. Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. A. R. Schleifer of Kansas City, Mo., ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The body is at Brower-Wann funeral home, with funeral arrangements pending. |
