Child Laid To Rest.

Funeral of Samuel Porter White Conducted Yesterday Afternoon.

The funeral of the late Samuel Porter White, the 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. White of North Lewiston, was conducted from the Vassar chapel at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon by Rev. F. O. Wyatt, of the Lewiston Orchards Presbyterian church. The services were largely attended and the most beautiful floral offerings were provided in profusion. The pallbearers were E. E. Eastwood, P. W. Green, R. S. Loring and A. A. Seaborg.

The child passed away Saturday morning from lockjaw, which developed from a slight injury sustained on the ankle. He was injured about ten days ago but no special attention was paid to the wound until the latter part of last week, when it appeared affected and lockjaw quickly developed. On Wednesday it was apparent that his condition was serious and physicians were called, but the most skilled treatment failed to check the malady.

Card of Thanks.

We desire to thank our many kind friends for their sympathy and assistance in the hour of our bereavement, and especially to thank Drs. C. T. Johnson, F. P. Nourse, Paul W. Johnson and the entire sisterhood of St. Joseph's hospital for their untiring and persistent efforts in a desperate case to save the life of our boy.

Mr. and Mrs. S. D. White.
