A. C. Whisler Dead At Zillah

A. C. Whisler, 84, one of the early fruit growers of the Clarkston flat, died yesterday at his home at Zillah, Wash., after a brief illness. His death resulted from the infirmities of age.

Mr. Whisler was born April 22, 1870 at Bayard, Iowa. He married Neva May Moosley in Iowa in 1891, and the couple came west on their honeymoon. After spending several years in the Palouse area they moved to south Clarkston in 1902, where Mr. Whisler set out orchards of all kinds on an 11-acre tract. Mrs. Whisler died the same year, leaving four young daughters.

Moved to Zillah

He lived in Clarkston area until about 12 years ago when he remarried and moved to Zillah. He frequently visited at Clarkston since moving to the Yakima valley.

Besides his wife, Mrs. Mamie Whisler of Zillah, Mr. Whisler is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Iola Dimke of Clarkston; Mrs. Vivian Ratekin of San Diego, Mrs. Fay Howe of Demning, N. M., and Mrs. Letha Cooper of Portland. An older brother, C. A. Whisler, 89, of Denver and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Mallett of Santa Monica, Calif., also survive.

He was a member of the Christian Church here for many years and later transferred his membership to the Zillah Christian Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 at the Zillah Christian Church. The body will be brought here for burial and committal services will be held at Normal Hill Cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 2.

Mrs. Dimke will go to Zillah today to attend services there. They three other daughters will also be present.
