Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, May 31, 1952 Ray Ward, 62, Dead; World War I Veteran Ray Ward, 62, a resident of Lewiston since 1943, died at 10:30 yesterday morning at St. Joseph's hospital. Death was attributed to a heart condition. Mr. Ward, a marine veteran of World war I, had been an invalid for the last 19 years. He was born Dec. 18, 1889 at Medoc, Mo., and lived in that state until 1911, when he moved to LaGrande, Ore. From 1914 to 1918, Mr. Ward resided at Pittsburg, Kan. He served in the marines during 1918 and 1919 and until 1943 lived at Pittsburg. Mr. Ward was married on April 6, 1914 to Nettie Shelton at Pittsburg. Mrs. Ward survives. He was a member of the IOOF lodge, the Rebekah lodge and the Baptist church of Inglewood, Kan. Besides his wife, Mr. Ward is survived by four sons, Wayne, of Houston, Texas; Pete and John, Lewiston, and Patrick, now serving in the navy; four daughters, Mrs. Rose Druley, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Jannette Riedinger, Clarkston; Mrs. Betty Jo McLochlan, and Carolyn S. Ward, both of Lewiston; a brother, John, LaGrande; and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Cone, Klamath Falls, Ore. Funeral services are pending. The body is at the Brower-Wann funeral home. |
