The home of a farmer named Allen burned Wednesday on Angel ridge near Peck and E. E. Wallace, a hired man, lost his life in the blaze. It appears that Wallace was at work in the field when the blaze started and Mr. Allen was not at home. Wallace rushed to help get out the household goods but soon the women missed him and his chared (sic) remains were later found in the ashes of the burned house. It is thought he went up stairs to get some money from his trunk and was overcome by smoke.
