Lewiston Morning Tribune Sat., April 5, 1947 Elizabeth Wagner, 79, Native Of Tennessee, Claimed By Death Mrs. Elizabeth Anna Wagner, 79, passed away at 1:45 yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. Mrs. Wagner was born Elizabeth Ann Grant, August 11, 1867 at Shouns, Tenn., daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Parker S. Grant. When she was three years of age the family started by covered wagon for California, but turned back after crossing the Mississippi when her mother became ill and died. She attended Roan Creek academy near her home and later schools in North Carolina and Virginia. She married Stacy Wagner Jan. 15, 1907, and came west with him to Nez Perce prairie. In 1911 the family moved to Clarkston where they built a home on Highland Ave. Her husband died in 1925. Active Church Member Mrs. Wagner was an active member of the Methodist church. She was a student of nature and spent much time in her garden. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Thompson of Oakland, Calif., a step-daughter, Mrs. Amanda Herstrom, Port Orchard ; three brothers, Walter W. Grant, Clarkston; H. T. Grant, Craigmont, Edgar Grant, Shoun, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Long, Grangeville, Edna Grant, Shouns, Tenn., who has been spending the winter here. The body is at Merchant's. Funeral arrangements are pending. |
