Truck Accident, And Cancer, Claim Life

Cancer of the lungs and a truck accident, claimed the life of Orrie Taylor, 71, Lewiston Orchards, at 3 yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's hospital.

Mr. Taylor had suffered from lung cancer for six years and his death was hastened when two ribs were fractured after a truck mishap Monday at Lewiston Orchards.

When the truck engine failed, Mr. Taylor alighted to use the crank. He left the truck in gear and when he turned the crank the vehicle rolled ahead and pinned him against an embankment. The accident happened near the home of Mrs. Myrtle Frost, 722 Preston, where Mr. Taylor had lived the last 12 years, Mrs. Frost reported yesterday.

Mr. Taylor was taken to St. Joseph's hospital by neighbors.

He was born in 1877 at Touchet, Wash., and came to Lewiston in 1921. He was employed as a fuel truck driver for many years by the late Fred Emery.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Christina Chambers, Lewiston, and Mrs. Lizzie Linehan, Genesee, and a brother, Lee Taylor, Yakima.

The body is at Vassar-Rawls funeral home with arrangements pending.
