Lewiston Morning Tribune Wednesday, January 9, 1924 (Name is wrong in the obituary) Edward G. Smith Death Well Known East Lewiston Resident Victim of Dropsy Edward G. Smith, a resident of Lewiston for the past 30 years, died last night shortly before 11 o'clock at the family home, corner of Seventh avenue and Twenty-seventh street, the cause of death being dropsy. Mr. Smith was first stricken early last summer and during the past few weeks he had been failing rapidly. Mr. Smith established the first white laundry in Lewiston about 30 years ago, the location being near where the union station now stands. About 24 years ago re-accepted the position as janitor of the Whitman school and he had continued in that work until his failing health made it necessary for him to retire. Mr. Smith is survived by a widow and a son, Ted, both of whom were with him. He was a gentleman of retiring disposition and modest living but enjoyed the very high esteem of a wide circle of friends. The funeral arrangements will be announced today.

Notice to K. of P. The members of the Knights of Pythias lodge are requested to meet at the K. P. hall at 2:45 o'clock this afternoon to attend the funeral of the late J. E. Smith at the Vassar chapel at 3 o'clock. |
