Lewiston Morning Tribune Thursday, December 13, 1951 Hubert Smith, PFI Man, Dead Hubert Smith, 54, native of this area and Clarkston resident for the last 26 years, died Tuesday night at 11:15 at St. Joseph's hospital after a brief illness. Smith went to work Monday morning at Potlatch Forests, Inc., mill as usual, though he complained of feeling ill. He was entered as a hospital patient that afternoon. Smith was born Feb. 9, 1897, at Genesee and attended school there. He married Agnes Fuchs Oct. 21, 1919, at Nezperce. Mr. and Mrs. Smith operated a farm in the Nezperce area until 1925 when the family moved to Clarkston. He has been employed at PFI most of the time since that date. Member of Elks He was a member of Clarkston Holy Family Catholic church, Elks lodge 896, Lewis-Clark Moose lodge and of the Holy Names society of the Holy Family church. Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Ryan of Clarkston, three grandchildren; a brother, Fred D. Smith of Mill Valley, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Mary Gray of Walla Walla. Rosary services will be conducted tomorrow night at 7:30 at Merchant's chapel. Requiem mass will be said at 9 Saturday morning at the Holy Family Catholic church with the Rev. Fr. Hugo Pautler officiating. Burial will be at Normal Hill cemetery. |
