Lewiston Morning Tribune Thursday, March 14, 1935 Mrs. Mary Simon, 85, Called By Death Resident Of Lewiston Since 1920 Passes To Reward At Home Of Son; Pioneer Of District. Mrs. Mary Simon, 85, wife of George Simon, a pioneer of Camas prairie and a resident of Lewiston since 1920, passed away yesterday morning at 3 o'clock at the home of her son, Fred Simon, at Cottonwood, where Mrs. Simon and her husband had been visiting for almost one year. A native of Lancaster, Ohio, born Jan. 7, 1850, she was married to Mr. Simon Dec. 17, 1873, and in 1893 they came to Idaho, locating on a farm near Cottonwood. Mr. Simon retired from farming in 1920 and he and Mrs. Simon came to Lewiston to make their home. She was among the best known residents on Camas prairie. Mr. and Mrs. Simon observed their 50th wedding anniversary here in 1923 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Schiller. Widower Is Survivor Surviving are a widower, now ill at the home of his son in Cottonwood; a daughter, Mrs. William Schiller, Lewiston, and three sons: G. F. Simon and F. S. Simon, Cottonwood, and Bart Simon, Pullman. Excepting the son at Pullman, the other children were bedside when death came. Funeral services will be held at Fred Simon's home in Cottonwood tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock and the body will be brought to Lewiston for interment in the family plot in Normal Hill cemetery with a brief service at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Mrs. Simon was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. |
