Carrie Shortlidge

Peck, Idaho, March 23. - Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Shortlidge, long-time Peck resident, were to be held today at Lewiston, with the Rev. James N. Lane, pastor of the Peck Methodist church officiating.

Interment was to be in Normal Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Shortlidge died at her home in Peck on Wednesday, on her 83rd birthday. She had been bedridden for the last four months.

She was born in Flora, Ill., and attended high school there. She graduated from a teacher college in Illinois, and came to the Moscow-Kendrick areas in 1895, teaching school in that vicinity.

In 1899 she married Allen J. Shortlidge and they farmed on his homestead at Central Ridge; later moving to Angel ridge, until they moved into Peck in 1915. Shortlidge preceded her in death in 1935, as did a daughter, Mrs. Florence Weakley, who died in 1934.

Mrs. Shortlidge was postmaster at Peck for 22 years, serving her area from 1922 until 1944. She was active in the church, Red Cross and Bluebell Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hunter of Peck, two brothers, a sister, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
