Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, March 20, 1910 [Date of paper is wrong. It was March 19] Mrs. Wallace Scott Dead Passed Away in California, Funeral Held Here. News reached the city yesterday of the death Thursday evening at Loma Linda, California, of Mrs. Mary E. Scott, wife of Wallace Scott, well known pioneer business man and banker of Grangeville. Mrs. Scott had been in ill health for a long period and went to California three months ago. Mr. Scott was with her at the time of death. Mrs. Scott was formerly Miss Mary E. Fee, daughter of Rev. Fee, of Lewiston, and she was united in marriage to Mr. Scott in Lewiston in 1874. The advices received yesterday stated that the remains would be brought to Lewiston for interment, and the body is expected to reach here Monday when announcement relative to the funeral arrangements can be made.
Lewiston Morning Tribune Obituary Mrs. Mary Fee Scott, wife of Wallace Scott, of Grangeville, departed this life on March 17, 1910, at Loma Linda, California, where she went for the benefit of her health. The relatives, with the body, are now en route to Lewiston, where the funeral services are to be conducted in the Presbyterian church on Monday, March 21, at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Lattimore will be in charge of the services, but Rev. Starr of Forest will preach the sermon. Mrs. Scott was a woman of high ideals and broad charity, exalting religious principles and the welfare of humanity above self and wealth. Being long and favorable known in all the Lewiston country, she will be greatly missed by her many friends. She was the daughter of the late Rev. R. N. Fee, who will be remembered by many in this section. She was born at Oskaloosa, Iowa, October 24, 1852. She removed to Randolph county, Illinois, with her parents when young, residing in that country for quite a number of years before coming west. Honored and loved by all who knew her, "she has fallen asleep in Jesus." |
