Tillie Schroeder, Former Resident Of Area, Succumbs

Wenatchee - Mrs. Tillie Schroeder, mother of Nez Perce County Commissioner Bert Schroeder and a resident of North Central Idaho for many years, died here Sunday morning at 10:30 at the home of her daughter, Edna Schroeder. She had resided here since 1936.

Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries. Mrs. Schroeder would have been 86 on Dec. 10.

She was the widow of August Schroeder, a pioneer cattleman of the Cottonwood and Keuterville area who died in 1931 at Clarkston.

She was born Mathilda Holdenried on Dec. 10, 1870 at New Holstein, Wis., and was married there to Mr. Schroeder in 1890. They came west soon after their marriage and settled on a cattle ranch on the Salmon River. In 1912 they purchased a farm three miles east of Cottonwood. They lived there until 1929 when they sold the farm and moved to Clarkston.

Leaves Nine Children

Mrs. Schroeder is survived by five sons, Bert Schroeder, Lewiston Orchards; Edward Schroeder, Corvallis, Ore.; Rudolph Schroeder, Moscow; August Schroeder, Phoenix, Ariz., and Karsten Schroeder, Sacramento, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Wisdom, Riggins; Mrs. Troy Tower, Kellogg; Mrs. Lester Jenne, Seattle, and Edna Schroeder, Wenatchee; two brothers, Bert Holdenried, Willows, Calif., and Frank Holdenried, Kelseyville, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. William Buettner, Cottonwood, and Mrs. Fd (as written) Luehr in Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brower-Wann Chapel with the Rev. George Skaret, pastor of the Lewiston Orchards Community Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be at Normal Hill Cemetery.
