Lewiston Morning Tribune Thursday, March 25, 1948 Joseph Sannie Rites Scheduled Tomorrow Funeral services for Joseph Sannie, 65, who died here Tuesday of heart disease, will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 from Vassar-Rawls chapel. The Rev. Fr. Henry Blackmore will officiate and burial will be at Normal Hill cemetery. Mr. Sannie was born July 14, 1882, at St. Geniers, France, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Sannie. St. Geniers is located in the central portion of France. He worked on his father's farm until 1903, when at 21 he joined the French army. He served three years on French soil and then was discharged from the army. Came to U. S. In 1908 On April 3, 1908, he married Louisa Adelbert at St. Geniers and they came to this country in the same year, settling in the Mission creek area. There he farmed until 1923, when he moved to Clarkston. He was employed on a Washington state highway crew for a short time and then entered the employ of the Lewiston National bank, now the Idaho First National bank, as a janitor. He was also employed by the Tribune Publishing Co. as janitor during the early 1930s and was a gardener for Lewiston families during the following years. He continued his employment at the banking firm until his death. In 1928 he adopted Lewiston as his residence, residing at 1028 8th St. at the time of his passing. He was a member of the Catholic church. Survivors besides his wife at Lewiston include three sisters now living at Paris. |
