Lewiston Morning Tribune Friday, August 31, 1951 Bernard Sander, 72, Succumbs At Lapwai Lapwai, Aug. 30 - Bernard J. Sander, 72, a farmer in this area since 1912, died at 9:29 Wednesday night at his home here. Mr. Sander had been in ill health for several months. He was born March 11, 1879, in Germany and came to the United States in 1887. Mr. Sander married Anna C. Delsman, who survives, on Oct. 29, 1901, at Hillsboro, Ore. He was a communicant of the Catholic church. Besides his wife, Mr. Sander is survived by six sons, Lawrence, Orofino; Raymond Wayne and Bernard, Lapwai; Cpl. Vincent Sander, with the army in Germany and Pvt. Kenneth Sander, with the army at Camp Roberts, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Feucht, Culdesac; Mrs. Leona Lantz, Raymond, Wash.; Mrs. Ethel Westfall, Colton, and Wilma Sander, Lapwai; 14 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Requiem mass will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic church, Lewiston, with the Rev. Fr. William LeVasseur as officiant. Burial will be at Normal Hill cemetery, Lewiston. The Vassar-Rawls funeral home, Lewiston, is in charge of arrangements.
