Lewiston Morning Tribune Sunday, August 24, 1924 Mrs. M. A. Roos Dead Passed Away at St. Joseph Hospital Last Evening. Mrs. Mandeville A. Roos passed away at the St. Joseph hospital at 6 o'clock last evening after a week's illness, which followed an operation for gall stones and appendicitis. Mrs. Roos had enjoyed comparatively good health until seized by a sudden illness a few days previous to being taken to the hospital. The funeral arrangements have not been made. Mrs. Mary Catherine Roos was born March 18, 1888, at Humbolt, Iowa, and was married 15 years ago to Mr. Roos at Boise. To this union was born three children, Lewis Charles, age 13; Margaretha Mildred age 11; and Mary Catherine, age five months; who with Mr. Roos all survive her. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Smith, of Longmont, Colorado; a sister, Mrs. Wm. Scoffield, of Grandview, Wash.; and two brothers, Robert Smith of Boise, and Gilbert Smith, of San Francisco. Mrs. Roos had a host of friends in Lewiston and the central Idaho region who will be grieved to learn of her untimely death. She was a lady of many fine qualities, and was a member of the Episcopal church. Since her residence at Boise, Mr. and Mrs. Roos have resided at Whitebird, where Mr. Roos was postmaster; at Pierce City, where Mr. Roos conducted a mercantile establishment; and at Lewiston on several occasions. They have resided in Lewiston since selling the Pierce store some six months ago. |
