Lewiston Morning Tribune Monday, June 11, 1956 Nellie R. Rogers Succumbs At 77 Mrs. Nellie Ramsey Rogers, a resident of Lewiston for 42 years and a 19th-century pioneer of the Northwest, died yesterday morning at 5:15 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was 77. Mrs. Rogers came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonidas F. Pennington, to Portland in the 1880s and to Lewiston in 1915. She was born Jan. 12, 1879, at Madison, Ind., and the family came to the Northwest when she was a young child. In 1893 they moved to Starbuck, Wash. She was married to W. W. Curtis in 1899. He died several years later. She was married to Frank Rogers in 1905 and the couple moved to Lewiston 10 years later. He died in 1938. She was a member of the Lewiston First Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Leigh Curtis, William Curtis and Robert Rogers, all of Lewiston; a brother, B. L. Pennington and a sister, Mrs. R. S. Erb, both of Lewiston; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home, with the Rev. James York, pastor of the Lewiston First Christian Church, officiating. |
