Rogers died yesterday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ingalls, residing in the eastern section of the city at what is known as the Willows. At the time of her death, which resulted from old age, Mrs. Rogers had reached the ripe old age of 84 years, two months and four days, and to the last retained her faculties. Since coming to Lewiston six years ago the aged lady had made her home with another sister, Miss Jennie Bonney, with Mrs. Ingalls. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 1:30 from the Vassar chapel, with the Rev. Elijah Hull Longbrake conducting the service. Mrs. Rogers married Noah Rogers in 1851, and a year following Mr. Rogers died one son having been born of the marriage, his death occurring many years ago. Prior to her first trip west 12 years ago the deceased made her home at different points in Illinois and Iowa, returning to take up her permanent abode with her sister. Mrs. Rogers was a faithful member of the Methodist church, her father being an exhorter of the church. Two sister survive, Mrs. Ingalls and Miss Bonney. |
