Mrs. Scott Rogers Dead In Spokane

Formerly Miss Katherine Fix, of Lewiston, Prominent and Popular Young Woman - Succumbed Following an Operation Yesterday.

A message received in the city last evening announced the death of Mrs. Kathryn Fix Rogers in Spokane late yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Rogers had been ill for several days and was taken to the hospital three or four days ago. Mrs. Fix was called to Spokane late last week and besides her husband, her brothers, Harold and John Penn Fix, were with Mrs. Rogers. It seems her condition did not assume a critical stage until late yesterday, as Mr. Fix did not receive word that his daughter was dangerously ill until late in the afternoon. Blissett Fix, who has been serving in the navy, has received his discharge and is now en route west and Linwood Fix is in the naval training school at Annapolis.

Mrs. Rogers was a Lewiston girl who endeared herself to a wide circle of friends. She possessed a fine mind and beautiful character, and following the conclusion of her education she interested herself in many home activities which brought her into intimate acquaintance with large numbers of people. She was a graduate of the Lewiston State Normal school of the class of 1912 and enjoyed a three-years' finishing course in England and six months on the continent. Mrs. Rogers was a lover of outdoor sports and for a period of years was prominent in tennis tournaments throughout the northwest, having held championship honors in Idaho and Washington. She was 29 years of age and was united in marriage with Mr. Scott Rogers, of Spokane, on June 29 of last year. Mr. Rogers is prominent in Spokane real estate and insurance circles and the marriage was made an important social event both in Lewiston and Spokane.

It is probable the funeral arrangements will be announced today, it being presumed the remains will be brought here for interment.

Death Due to Operation.

Spokane, March 18. - Mrs. Winfield Scott Rogers, formerly Miss Kathryn Fix, who won more tennis championships than any woman of the northwest, died here today, following an operation. Mrs. Rogers five times was champion of Idaho, three times champion of the Inland Empire and had won numerous sups in matches on the coast, in doubles and mixed doubles with Miss Marie Kettenbach, Miss Hattie Palmer, Alfred Kettenbach and Gray of Lewiston, Idaho, she won many trophies.
