Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, September 4, 1943 Mrs. Guy G. Richards Is Taken By Death Mrs. Elizabeth Harvey Richards, 70, wife of Guy G. Richards, beloved pioneer resident of Lewiston, died at 10 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Joseph's hospital. Mrs. Richards had been at the hospital since the death of her youngest son, Percy Richards, at Wenatchee last April, which was a contributing factor to her passing. Death was attributed to a heart condition. Mrs. Richards was born at Woodfords, Calif., March 3, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Harvey. She came to Lewiston in 1892 to live with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B. Hinman, ranching along the Clearwater river six miles east of Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston normal and taught for several years in the Locust Grove area of Craig mountain. On Sept. 27, 1899, her marriage to Mr. Richards was solemnized at the Hinman home. They moved to the home Mr. Richards had provided for his bride at 512 Fourth avenue, and her residence at that address was continuous. Mrs. Richards was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, at Lewiston. Survivors include her husband, Guy G. Richards; her son, Clyde H. Richards; two brothers and two sisters, David Harvey and Charles Harvey, both of Lewiston; Mrs. Florance Lafferty, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Gene Neddenreip, Wellington, Nev.; three grandchildren, Elaine Richards, Virginia Lee Richards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Richards and Jimmy Richards, son of Mrs. Percy Richards, now making her home at Lewiston, and her aunt, Mrs. Hinman. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 o'clock from the Brower-Wann chapel. The service of the Christian Science church will be read. Interment will be in the family plot at Normal Hill cemetery. |
