Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, February 24, 1945 James Luther Rice Is Taken By Death James Luther Rice, 54, well known in sawmill circles of the northwest and employed as sawyer on rig No. 3 at the plant of Potlatch Forests, Inc., since the mill commenced operations in 1927, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 11:30 yesterday morning. Death was attributed to a heart attack following a few days illness. Mr. Rice was born at Riceville, Ky., Dec. 4, 1889, and before coming to Lewiston was employed by the Biles, Coleman Lumber & Milling Co. at Omak, Wash., and later by the M__ Goldrick Lumber Co., in Canada. His home was at 318 Eleventh street. He was a member of the Elks lodge. Survivors are two sons, Raymond Rice, employed at the Camas Oil Co., here and Capt. James Rice, infantry, stationed at Camp Shelby, Miss.; and one grandchild. The body is at Brower-Wann chapel with funeral arrangements pending. |
