Lewiston Morning Tribune Funeral of Charles Ransom Now at Rest After Month of Grievous Illness The funeral of Charles Ransom, who died at White's hospital Friday afternoon, was held at the Vassar chapel yesterday morning at 11:30 o'clock, Rev. D. J. W. Somerville of the Episcopal church conducting the services. A group of friends gathered in respect to the departed and expressed their kindly remembrance of him with beautiful flowers. The pallbearers were William J. Hofmann, C. T. Stranahan, Clyde Stranahan, L. B. Wann. To the Tribune: Saturday morning's Tribune announced the death of Charley Ransom, who passed away Friday at the White hospital. It may be of some interest to Tribune readers to know that this man was a loyal, trusty and faithful-to-a-dot worker at C. T. Stranahan's place for 24 years, for he came there in the fall of 1899. Rev. D. J. W. Somerville, in a very appropriate funeral service performed his task at the Vassar chapel at 11:30 this morning, tactfully, sincerely, conscientiously. Nature is kind to us at all times; when suffering becomes unbearable, death ensues. The taking away of Mr. Ransom, body racked by constant pain and suffering for the past two weeks, again exemplifies the even-handed justice and kindness of Him, the Giver of all life, giving the sick man the relief he craved, stiffling his pains, taking away his burden and ltetting him enter the valley of peaceful sleep. This from a friend to Charley Ransom.
