The Lewiston Teller May 2, 1895 Death of Mrs. Rand. Mrs. Mary Hester Rand died Thursday morning, April 25th, from the effects of paralysis, with which she had been afflicted more than a year. The deceased was a daughter of our late lamented townsman, Samuel P. Hutchings, and was born at Farmington, Mo., Dec. 1st, 1831. She emigrated to California in 1855, where she resided until the spring of 1873, when she married our worthy townsman, Jasper Rand, and removed at once to this city. She maintained a residence here until about a year ago, when she and her husband removed to their beautiful country home about two and one-half miles from this city. The funeral Friday was largely attended by the many friends of the family. The occasion marked the closing of a long and noble life. Death came as a relief after a long suffering and terminated the journey of a well-spent life. |
