Mrs. Mary Qualey Passes

Former Genesee Pioneer Dies at Her Joseph Plains Home.

Mrs. Mary Qualey, pioneer of the Genesee section and for the last nine years a resident of Joseph Plains, back of Whitebird in the Salmon river country, died yesterday morning at her home, following an illness with lung trouble extending over a year. The remains were brought to Lewiston yesterday and are at the Vassar chapel awaiting the completion of funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Qualey was born in Denmark, Jan. 1, 1873, and came to the United States when 18 years of age. She moved to the Genesee country in 1890 and resided there for 29 years before the family moved to Joseph Plains.

She is survived by her husband, K. C. Qualey, and six sons and three daughters. One brother in Oregon and a brother and sister in Moscow also survive.
