Lewiston Morning Tribune Tuesday, November 30, 1954 Alice Mable Martin Pratt Alice M. Pratt Taken By Death Mrs. Alice Mable Pratt, 60-year-old Twin City area pioneer, died yesterday at 10:40 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. She had been ill only about 10 hours prior to her death. Mrs. Pratt was well known in Lewiston. She owned and operated a popcorn stand in front of the Roxy Theater for the last year, having worked there for eight years prior to that. Previous to that she was employed at Huggins Dairy. She was born June 14, 1894, in Asotin County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Martin. She was raised on a ranch south of Asotin near Couse Creek. Her father had operated a grain elevator and postoffice at Couse Creek. She was married to John C. Pratt at Grangeville in November, 1918. In 1926 the couple moved to Lewiston to 623 4th Ave., where they lived the rest of their lives. Mr. Pratt died Aug. 16, 1938. Mrs. Pratt was a member of the Lewiston First Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the Microcosm Club. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Don Sumpter and Mrs. Vern Grieser, both of Lewiston; two brothers, Calvin Martin of Lewiston and Emery Martin of Spokane, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Harryman of Lewiston. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 at Brower-Wann Chapel with the Rev. Paul Deane Hill officiating. Burial will be at Normal Hill Cemetery. |
