Lewiston Morning Tribune Mon., Dec. 17, 1945 Mrs. Mary Pontius Is Taken By Death Mrs. Mary Pontius, 66, Idaho resident for the last 36 years, mostly in Lewiston and vicinity, died at 10:40 last night at St. Joseph's hospital. She had been ill two months and death was attributed to a heart attack. Mrs. Pontius was born in Butler, Mo., June 27, 1879, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hand. She made her home at Peck 25 years ago and at one time was interested in the old Cloverleaf dairy in east Lewiston. She was a communicant of the Christian church. Mrs. Pontius is survived by two sons and two daughters, Arnold Pontius, Seattle, here at the time death came; Lyle Pontius, San Francisco, but formerly of the Lewiston postoffice, recently discharged from the army as mail specialist; Mrs. William Rieman, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Ed Sanders, Spokane, also at the bedside when death came. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hand, Lewiston, and Mrs. Fenia Rasmussen, Peck, and five grandchildren. The body is at Brower-Wann chapel with funeral arrangements pending. |
