Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, November 19, 1927 Pioneer Matron Passes On Mrs. John Phillips Is Mourned by Host of Friends. Mrs. John Phillips, 75, a pioneer of the Reubens and Uniontown sections, and a resident of Lewiston for the past year, passed away at the family home at 1017 Eleventh avenue yesterday evening following an illness of about three weeks. Mrs. Phillips was born in Laramie county, Ohio. With her husband she came west about 40 years ago, settling in the Uniontown community for about ten years. When the reservation opened some 30 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips moved to the Reubens section, where they have since resided until a year ago. Mrs. Phillips was a long time member of the Catholic church, and was well known to a wide circle of friends on the prairie. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Frank Phillips and J. P. Kuhn, and a daughter, Miss Lena Phillips, all of Lewiston. The body is at the Vassar parlors awaiting funeral arrangements. |
