Lewiston Morning Tribune Wednesday, December 17, 1947 Mrs. Bessie Painter Summoned By Death Mrs. Bessie Painter, 73, died of infirmities last night at 6:25 at her Lewiston Orchards home at 16th St. and Ripon Ave. She had been an Orchards resident since 1939. She was born at Dale, Ind., Nov. 8, 1874. She married Custis Painter Dec. 20, 1894, while in Indiana and with her family moved to Webb ridge in 1917, where Mr. Painter engaged in farming. The couple would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary Saturday. She had been a member of the First Methodist church since the age of 16. Survivors besides her husband include two daughters, Mrs. Maybel Jones, Boise, and Mrs. Grace Maynard, Kamiah; six sons, John of Lewiston, isaac of the Orchards, Charles of Lapwai, James of Woodburn, Ore., Robert of Seattle and Eugene of Everett, Wash.; two brothers, Robert and William McDaniel of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Henson and Mrs. Katherine Judd, Seattle, and Mrs. Ella McDaniel, Boonville, Ind.; and 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. All the children and their mother and father were born at Dale, Ind. The body is at Brower-Wann funeral home with arrangements pending. |
