Ness, well known to Lewiston people as the proprietor of the Ness Music store, died Tuesday evening in Portland, according to word received by his family here yesterday. He was nearly 51 years old. The death of Mr. Ness comes somewhat suddenly. About ten days ago he went to Portland for treatment for stomach trouble. His death came following an operation. About seven years ago in Lewiston Mr. Ness established the Ness music store, which he conducted for a time in the edifice opposite the Lewiston depot. Later he constructed the building now occupied by the Eagle cafe and his store, and his business is now housed there. He has ever been active in musical circles and in other activities of a public nature. Mr. Ness is survived by his wife, two children and a sister, all of whom are in Lewiston. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, which organization has charge of the funeral arrangements. The body is expected to arrive from Portland this morning, and the services will be held at the Vassar chapel Friday afternoon. Rev. B. O. Steffenson, pastor of the Norwegian Lutheran church, will officiate at the chapel services, and the Knights of Pythias will perform the ceremony at the grave. |
