Lewiston Morning Tribune Sunday, November 6, 1932 J. Smith Mounce Dies Had Lived In This Region Since 1882; Funeral Tomorrow. J. Smith Mounce, resident of Lewiston and vicinity since 1882, and for 35 years identified with the farming interests of Nez Perce county, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning. Mr. Mounce was born in Iowa April 22, 1854, and came west about 1880 and in 1882 settled on land adjoining what is now Lewiston Orchards, a part of his holding being included in the orchards. The ranch is known as the Nichols place. About 15 years ago he retired from farming and came here to live. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Mollie Mounce; two sons and two daughters, Guy Mounce of Clark, Wyo.; Carl Mounce of Mohler; Mrs. Mildred Polmans of Winchester and Mrs. Beatrice Flinn of this city. The body is resting at the Brower-Wann parlors. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Christian church, the Rev. Orval D. Peterson officiating. Interment will be at the Normal Hill cemetery. |
