The Spokesman-Review Tuesday, July 17, 1923 Death Takes Isaac Mounce Reputed Oldest Man in Idaho Succumbs at Culdesac. Lewiston, Idaho, July 12. - Isaac Mounce, said to be Idaho's oldest citizen, died today at the home of his daughter near Culdesac. Had he lived to April 23, 1924, he would have reached the century mark, having been born in Indiana in 1824. In 1852 he visited California and a second trip was made to the west in 1865, still later coming in 1879, when he established a home at Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Mounce came to the Tammany region, near Lewiston, in 1888. Surviving children are Mrs. William Ruddell, Culdesac; J. Smith Mounce and Mrs. George Ruddell, Lewiston; Lafayette Mounce, Tammany, and Eben Mounce, Seattle. The body was brought here. |
