Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, September 19, 1944 Rail Agent Dead Of Heart Attack Lapwai, Sept. 18 - Raymond K. Michael, 56, agent at Lapwai for the Camas Prairie railroad for the last three years and employed in other capacities by the road since February of 1916, died of a heart attack at 10:20 this morning while standing on a porch at the rear of the depot. He apparently had gone outside for air when stricken. He fell four feet from the porch to the ground. Mr. Michael's body was found by James Martin, who said he had not been feeling well, and last week suffered an internal hemorrhage. Sheriff Hays and Coroner L. B. Wann arrived here in response to a call placed by Deputy Sheriff Earl Wormell. Mr. Michael died almost instantly, Coroner Wann said. Mr. Michael was born at Greencastle, Ind., March 9, 1888. Two Sons In Service Survivors include his two sons, Capt. Dale C. Michael, quartermaster corps, stationed somewhere in the European theater of war, and Lt. Gordon G. Michael, with the air forces at Ft. Lewis; and two grandchildren. His daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dale Michael, residing at Moscow, came to Lapwai when told of the death of Mr. Michael. It is expected that Lt. Michael will arrive for the funeral. The body is at Brower-Wann chapel, Lewiston, with funeral arrangements pending. |
