Lewiston Morning Tribune Friday, April 3, 1959 Mrs. Merrill Passes At 31 Orofino - Mrs. Betty Rae Merrill, 31, died at a hospital here Wednesday at 1:10 a.m. of heart disease. She had been a patient at the hospital for the last 19 days and was a resident of Elk City. Mrs. Merrill was born Nov. 26, 1927, at Springdale, Wash. At the age of 3 she moved with her family to Heppner, Ore., and later she moved to Little Rock, Wash., to live four years. Subsequently the family moved to St. Helens, Ore., and then to Lewiston Orchards, where she lived for 12 years. Mrs. Merrill was married at Lewiston on March 30, 1946, to Earl Merrill. She attended the Lewiston Business College two years and later worked for a mercantile store there. A daughter preceded her in death in 1947. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl; one son, Donald, both of Elk City; her mother, Mrs. Gladys B. Walker, and a brother, Warren Walker, both of Winchester. Rosary will be recited Friday night at 9 at Gilbert's Funeral Chapel. Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday morning at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Fr. Richard C. Bauman will officiate. Burial will be at the Normal Hill Cemetery, Lewiston, with Gilbert's in charge.
