Lewiston Morning Tribune Thursday, December 28, 1944 Dan McLeod's Death Takes Rail Pioneer Daniel McLeod, 70, who died at St. Joseph's hospital at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, a few hours after he entered the institution following a stroke, was a retired employee of the Camas Prairie railroad. Mr. McLeod, a resident of Lewiston for 32 years, was placed on the retired list in 1938. He was employed in the bridge and building department of the railroad. Before coming to Lewiston he made his home at Spokane and was in charge of rock work during the construction of the Nine-Mile dam in the Spokane river. A native of Prince Edward island, he was born in 1874, and before coming to the United States he and his brother operated a string of hotels in Canada. He was a bachelor. Mr. McLeod's body is at Vassar-Rawls chapel with funeral arrangements pending word from his sister in Canada. |
