Lewiston Morning Tribune Tuesday, September 29, 1953 Robert W. McGarvey Succumbs To Illness Robert William McGarvey, 74, of 26th St., died at his home at 6:30 a.m. yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been ill for four years. Mr. McGarvey was born Jan. 30, 1879, at Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. In 1882, he came to Michigan where he engaged in logging. He moved to Troy, Idaho, in 1903 to continue in the business. In 1919 he moved to Genesee. He came to Lewiston in 1949 when he retired. He was married to Rose Ella Wood at Moscow Dec. 22, 1909. Survivors include his wife, Rose Ella McGarvey; two sons, Walter McGarvey and Wayland McGarvey, both of Lewiston; three brothers, Elmer McGarvey of McCall and Fred and John McGarvey, both of Agassiz, B.C.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Ava Swecker and Mrs. Dora Randall, both of Clarkston, Mrs. Glennie Helms of Portland and Mrs. Gertie Hickman of Moscow; a stepson, Denver Byers of Lewiston, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel. The Rev. James Yount of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will be at Normal Hill Cemetery. |
