Lewiston Morning Tribune Thursday, November 20, 1947 Clifford C. Matter Passes After stroke Clifford C. Matter, 64, died yesterday morning at 3 at his residence, 1202 9th St., after a stroke suffered Tuesday. He was born at Blairs Town, Iowa, March 20, 1883. He married Ruth Brown at Wausa, Neb., in August, 1909, and moved here in 1918. For the next nine years he was employed as a bookkeeper. In 1927 he moved to Nezperce to open a harness shop but a year later returned to Lewiston, where he since made his home. He had recently been employed as a caretaker. He was a master Mason, a member of the Shrine and a communicant of the Presbyterian church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Paul Wood, Nampa; two sons, William of Kuna, Idaho, and Clifford of Lewiston; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Best, Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Geddes, Lincoln, Neb.; three brothers, Lloyd of Lincoln, Floyd of Chicago and Jack of California; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Brower-Wann chapel Saturday afternoon at 2, with the Rev. Douglas Vance officiating. Masons will have charge of cemetery rites. |
