Lewiston Morning Tribune Wednesday, April 17, 1935 Peter J. Konen Is Called To Reward Aged Pioneer of County Passes Away at Home of Daughter In Clarkston; Lived Long, Active Life. Peter J. Konen, 84, among the best known citizens of central Idaho and a pioneer of Nez Perce county, residing in the Rimrock section for more than 55 years, died last night at 9:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Bershaw, Tenth street, Clarkston. On account of advanced age his health had been failing for several months. A native of Germany, Mr. Konen came to the United States when he was 21 years old and shortly after located on a homesteading the Rimrock. Until recent years he was active in the affairs of his community and of Genesee. For many years he was a field deputy assessor under the late Assessor James L. Armstrong. Leaves Nine Children Mr. Konen is survived by three sons and six daughters; John F. Konen, Lewiston; Nick Konen, Fairfield, Wash.; William F. Konen and Mrs. Gertrude Bershaw, Clarkston; Mrs. Maria Vestol, Genesee; Mrs. Carrie Thyfault, living in Kansas; Mrs. Theresa Lorang, Lewiston; Kate Konen, Uniontown; Mrs. Lena Luper, San Diego, Calif. The body is resting at the Vassar-Shaughnessy-Rawls chapel. Funeral arrangements are pending. |
