Lewiston Morning Tribune Sunday, September 19, 1943 John Kennedy Dead After Brief Illness John Kennedy, 77, well known resident of Clarkston and the Culdesac area, where he farmed extensively for many years, died at his home at Thirteenth and Highland at 7 a.m. yesterday after a week's illness. Death resulted from influenza. Mr. Kennedy was born near Londonderry, Ireland, Jan. 10, 1866, and with his parents came to the United States when he was 10 years old. The family located at Fonda, Iowa, where Mr. Kennedy late engaged in farming and operating an implement house. In 1905 he came to Idaho and located in Nez Perce county. His extensive farming operations were along Tom Beall creek, the place now occupied by Merritt Meacham. Several years ago he retired from active work and moved to Clarkston. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. He was married to Miss Maude Beale in Iowa in 1903. Survivors are Mrs. Kennedy; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Rush, Port Orford, Ore., and Mrs. Esther Ryan, Los Angeles; also three grandchildren, Alice, John and Mary Rush. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:30 from the Brower-Wann chapel in Lewiston with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will be at Normal Hill cemetery. |
