Lewiston Morning Tribune Tuesday, March 31, 1931 Tribesmen Pay Tribute To Edward Kash Kash Lapwai, March 30 Impressive funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church here at 1 o'clock this afternoon for Edward Kash Kash, member of a family long prominent in the affairs of the Nez Perce tribe of Indians, whose death occurred at Pendleton last week. Tribesmen from many parts of the reservation country attended the rites and a number from the Umatilla and other reservations were here. There were seven ministers officiating in the cemetery, these being the Rev. Robert Parson, the Rev. Mark Arthur, the Rev. Stephen Reuben, the Rev. E. J. Conner, the Rev. Starr J. Maxwell, the Rev. Harry Moffett and the Rev. Daniel Scott. The church was incapable of accommodating the number of mourners. The service was in the language of the Nez Perces. Just before he died Mr. Kash Kash named six of his associates to act as pallbearers, these being: Philip Guyer, Roy Hayes, Edward Phillips, Gilbert Conner and Sam Hayes. Interment was in the cemetery at Sweetwater. |
