Lewiston Morning Tribune Wednesday, April 19, 1916 John W. Hovey Dead. Pioneer Hotel Keeper of Kooskia Victim of Heart Trouble. Kooskia, April 18 - (Special to the Tribune) - After an illness extending over a period of but little more than two weeks, the seriousness of which did not manifest itself until last Sunday evening at '6 o'clock, John W. Hovey, proprietor of the Riverside hotel at this place, and one of the best known resident of the upper Clearwater country, died at his hotel yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, death being caused from an acute attack of heart trouble. Mr. Hovey was 75 years of age, the last 14 years being spent as proprietor of the hotel. He was first taken ill about two weeks ago, but seemingly had fully recovered his health and up to the time of taking to his bed last Sunday evening, he was about the hotel as usual. Last Sunday evening he began to sink, and it was then seen that there was little hope for his recovery. Mr. Hovey is survived by a wife, three sons and two daughters, the children being: George, Forest and Ralph, and Mrs. Maude Parry and Mrs. Della Palmer, all residents of Kooskia with the exception of Mrs. Palmer, who arrived from Walla this afternoon. The arrangements for the funeral have not bee completed. |
