Lewiston Morning Tribune Saturday, October 3, 1942 J. W. Hobson, Gifford, Is Called By Death Gifford, Oct. 2. - John W. Hobson, 73, resident of Gifford for 47 years, and one of the town's first merchants, died at his home this afternoon after a year's illness. A native of Benton county, Ark., born Dec. 3, 1863, Mr. Hobson located at Gifford in 1895 and for about 10 years owned a store during he town's infancy. Later he farmed, retiring a few years ago. Mr. Hobson leaves 10 children: Mrs. John Uhlenkott, Grangeville; Mrs. Charles Weinmann, Lewiston Orchards; Mrs. Fred Weinmann and Mrs. L. Fern Autrey, both of Buckley, Wash.; Mrs. Carl J. Frank, Bonners Ferry; Miss Ruby Hobson, missionary in south India; Buford L. Hobson, Lincoln, Wash.; Miss Lois Hobson, Gifford; Mrs. Jack Riplinger, Logan, Utah, and Staff Sgt. Robert W. Hobson, Glendale, Calif.; also 16 grandchildren. The body is at the Brower-Wann chapel at Lewiston with funeral arrangements pending. |
