Spokane Daily Chronicle Tuesday., Jan. 25, 1966 Harriet M. High Lewiston, Idaho - Committal services were held today at Vineland Cemetery, Clarkston, for Mrs. Harriet Matilda High, a resident of Lewiston for 55 years, who died Sunday at a Clarkston rest home, where she had been a patient about six months. She was born March 3, 1876, Stevenson Co., IL, to John and Margaret Strobacker. In 1886 she moved with them to Iowa where she attended schools. She married Harvey J. High, at Waterloo, Iowa, March 1, 1893. They moved to Lewiston in 1910 and he was a real estate man until his death in 1955. Mrs. High was a member of the Lewis-Clark chapter of the Idaho Writer's League for many years and won state prizes for her poetry. She was also a member of Lewiston War Mothers, the Lewiston Valley Grange, Latewa Temple of the Pythian Sisters, and was a member of group's PLE&F Club. She was also a charter member of the Women's Auxilary of St. Joseph's Hospital. Survivors are a son, Thomas H., and a daughter, Mrs. Winona Gibson McKay, both of Lewiston; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. |
