Lewiston Morning Tribune Tues., Nov. 7, 1944 Lewiston Pioneer Called By Death Mrs. Mattie E. Henderson, 85, Lewiston pioneer, died yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph's hospital after a lingering illness. She was born Jan. 14, 1859, in Davis county, Iowa, and at the age of four crossed the plains with her parents, the late Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Binge, who settled in the Walla Wall valley in 1865. In 1880 she was married to George M. Henderson and the couple came to Lewiston to make their home in 1894. Mr. Henderson passed away in 1933. Survivors include two sons, Claude R. Henderson, Lewiston; and Charles B. Henderson, Portland, two daughters, Mrs. Rosa Eskelson, Heppner, Ore.; Mrs. Ruth Barnett, Pendleton; a brother, Ralph L. Binge, Heppner; and six grand children, Mrs. Ralph Giner, Klamath Falls, Ore.; Evalyn Henderson, Lewiston; Arthur B. Henderson with the armed forces in France; Wilbur at Camp Beale, Calif.; George with the armed forces is Australia; and Mrs. James Calder, Oregon City, Ore. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at Brower-Wann chapel with the Rev. Marvin E. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Normal Hill cemetery. |
