Lewiston Morning Tribune Sunday, February 2, 1930 William R. Flint Dies At Home In Culdesac Culdesac, Feb. 1 William R. Flint, former merchant and postmaster at Sweetwater, died at the family home here late Friday following failing health since last August. Mr. Flint first resided here in 1905 and in that same year purchased the general merchandise store and postoffice at Sweetwater. This was later sold in 1918 when he moved to Culdesac. Mr. Flint was born Sept. 12, 1850, near Anson, Maine. During his youth he farmed with his father, railroaded in Illinois and Indiana and later formed a partnership with a brother to buy and sell livestock in northern Iowa. For years he was in the mercantile business at Orchard, Iowa. Was Elder In Church. Mr. Flint was a charter member of the Presbyterian church at Lapwai and was one of its first elders. At the time of his death he was a member of the Methodist Community church at Culdesac. He was a Mason and member of the Yeoman brotherhood. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Flint, Culdesac; a daughter, Mrs. Allan Perry, Edwall, Wash.; two sons, LeGrand Flint, Lewiston, and Alden Flint, Culdesac. The serious illness of her infant daughter, Leta Perry, kept Mrs. Perry at a Spokane hospital, but the other children were at the bedside as the end of life neared for Mr. Flint. Hold Funeral Today. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Presbyterian church at Lapwai, the Rev. James Ferris officiating, assisted by Reverend Yeaggy, pastor of the Methodist Community church at Culdesac. Interment will be in Normal Hill cemetery in the family plot. The Vassar mortuary has charge of arrangements. |
