Lewiston Morning Tribune Friday, July 11, 1924 Death Of Eugene Flint Passing of an estimable and Aged Pioneer Resident at Culdesac. Yesterday morning at 10:30 o'clock,at the Community church at Culdesac, occurred the funeral services for Eugene Fling, the service being in charge of Jas. A. Ferris of Lewiston Orchards, where the deceased was formerly a resident. The interment was in the Lewiston cemetery. Eugene Flint, Civil war veteran and a resident of the Lewiston section for the past 14 years, passed away at an early hour Wednesday morning at the home of his brother, W. R. Flint, at Culdesac. Mr. Flint was 88 years, 7 months and 3 days of age and his death was caused from complications incident to his advanced age. Eugene Flint was born in Maine and in 1856 he removed to Colorado, and at the beginning of the Civil war he enlisted with a Colorado cavalry regiment. Following his discharge from the army, he returned to Iowa but soon came west. He had been separated from his brother, W. R. Flint, for nearly 44 years when he walked into his brother's store at Sweetwater and was immediately recognized. That was 14 years ago and he had since made his home with his brother, a portion of the time at Sweetwater, then in Lewiston Orchards, and for the past several years at Culdesac. Eugene Flint was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed rugged health until a short time before his last illness. He was a gentleman of kind and charitable disposition and enjoyed the very high regard of all who knew him. |
