Lewiston Teller Wm. P. Davis, whose death was announced yesterday morning in the form of a funeral notice, was born near Marrietta, Ohio, in 1824. He came to California in 1850, and to what is now called Northern Idaho in 1861. Engaged in mining, afterwards in packing, and during about five years last, past, has served faithfully as night watchman in the city of Lewiston. He was always an honest and trustworthy man, and respected by all who knew him. He had been in failing health for several months past, and his death grieves many friends who mourn his loss. A post mortem examination was made on the body by Drs. Stirling and Morris, and the fact ascertained that he died with cancer of the stomach. His funeral takes place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Episcopal Church. |
