Lewiston Morning Tribune Sunday, March 3, 1907 Death Of C. A. Coryell Well Known Resident Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon at Home of Daughter After Several Week's Illness - Ship Remains to Old Home in Iowa. Cary A. Coryell, the well known resident of this city, died yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. J. B. McDole, 826 Main street, after a several weeks' illness. The funeral will be held at the McDole residence at 3 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. W. T. Euster conducting the services. The Masons and G. A. R., of which the deceased was a member, will attend in a body. Tonight the remains will be placed on the Owl train for shipment to Olivet, Iowa. Deceased was born in Adams county, Ohio, September 23, 1843. When a child the family moved to Iowa and his home was made near Oskaloosa for over thirty years. January 1, 1876, he married Miss Laura O. Walker in Mahaska county, Iowa. Mrs. Coryell died December 10, 1895. Of the union six children were born. Three of the daughters, Mrs. McDole, Mrs. A. W. Phillips and Mrs. Neal Denburger, are residents of Lewiston, and another daughter, Mrs. Hattie Waugaman, is residing at Eddyville, Iowa, and two sons are living near that city. Mr. Coryell served three years in the civil war, being a member of company K, Thirty-third Iowa infantry. He moved to Lewiston in September, 1903, at the request of his sister, the late Mrs. Sarah C. Thompson, to take charge of her affairs. He was also one of the executors of her estate. At the time of his death he owned a fine 300 acre farm near Oskaloosa, Iowa, and had acquired large interests in the Lewiston country. He was prominent in business circles as a member of the well known lumber firm of Colby, Coryell & Howe, being one of the organizers of the firm. The remains will be accompanied to their last resting place by Mr. McDole and Mrs. A. W. Phillips, the latter intending to spend several months in the east. |
