S. E. Child passed away Monday about noon, at his home on the Hill. He had been an invalid for about a year, but within the past two weeks had failed so rapidly that his children had been summoned to his bedside. His remains were taken to Spokane, Tuesday, for interment. The deceased was a New Englander by birth, and served with distinction in the civil war. He had extensive business interest in the west, and lived many years at Spokane. He has been in Lewiston for the past three years, where the climate seemed most beneficial for his complaints. He leaves many friends here, who are in full sympathy with his sorrowing family.
