Lewiston Morning Tribune Friday, February 24, 1939 George W. Canner Dead Of Pneumonia George W. Canner, 76, well known resident of Lewiston 34 years, died yesterday afternoon at 4 at his home, 210 Main street, of pneumonia after a brief illness. He had complained of not feeling well a few days before taking to his bed Monday. A native of Milwaukee, Wis., born Aug. 4, 1862, he came to Lewiston in 1905, and Sept. 28, 1906, was married here to Miss Georgia Holt. Mr. Canner was a sign painter, maintaining his shop in the building in which he made his home and where he had resided since coming to Lewiston. Up to 15 years ago he was active in athletics and was among the outstanding bowlers of north Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Canner; his son Samuel Canner, member of the Lewiston fire department; two brothers, John Canner, Spokane; Albert Canner, St. Paul, Minn., his sister, Miss Alice Canner, residing in California, and two grandchildren, Caroline Canner and Samuel Canner, Jr. The body is at the Vassar-Rawls chapel. Funeral arrangements are pending. |
